Sustainability at Rockpore

Rockpore develops mineral materials for a circular, low-emissions economy, with technologies currently validated at TRL 5–7.

Our Arctic Series is based on the valorisation of industrial by-products and mineral residues, reducing reliance on primary raw materials and avoiding polymeric inputs. The materials are designed for durability, recyclability, and controlled end-of-life recovery, in line with the EU Circular Economy Action Plan and the Waste Framework Directive.

COâ‚‚ performance is addressed through material chemistry rather than offsets. Selected products incorporate calcium-silicate phases intended to enable mineral carbonation under service-relevant conditions. The extent and rate of COâ‚‚ uptake are subject to ongoing validation as part of pilot-scale testing.

Environmental performance will be substantiated through life-cycle assessment (LCA) in accordance with ISO 14040/44 and relevant EN standards as the technologies progress toward industrial deployment. Responsible sourcing, traceability, and compliance with REACH, CLP, and applicable construction product regulations are integral to the development programme.

Statement on Sustainability

At Rockpore, we develop mineral aggregate technologies that upcycle industrial by-products into high-performance, recyclable materials for the construction sector. Our circular lightweight aggregate concepts are designed to reduce primary raw-material use, support material recovery, and enable mineral-based solutions aligned with EU circularity objectives, including initiatives to reduce microplastic pollution.

Our development work is currently at TRL 5–7. Claims related to COâ‚‚ performance are addressed through material chemistry—specifically calcium-silicate systems intended to enable mineral carbonation under service-relevant conditions—and are subject to ongoing validation as the technologies progress toward industrial deployment.

Using our Business Model Readiness Indicator (BMRI), we assess each innovation for technical robustness, regulatory alignment, scalability, and market relevance. This ensures that development decisions are grounded in compliance, manufacturability, and long-term value creation rather than short-term optimisation.

Rockpore’s approach combines responsible material sourcing, energy-efficient processing, and continuous technical iteration to deliver mineral solutions intended to support Europe’s transition toward more resource-efficient and durable infrastructure systems.
