Rockpore ehf has secured exclusive rights from Rockpore AS to produce CLWAC and build Europe’s first full-scale CLWAC facility in Iceland.
Each year, up to 20,000 tonnes of industrial waste and mining tailings will be transformed into high-performance materials for hydroponics and turf, fully aligned with EU sustainability regulations.

Impact
Impacts for Hydroponics and Artificial Turf
Rockpore is creating a low-carbon, fully recyclable substrate for hydroponics that boosts water retention, nutrient uptake, and plant growth—while reducing waste. With carbon capture potential and a circular design, it enables sustainable, high-yield food production with minimal environmental impact.
Ahead of the 2031 EU ban on rubber infill, Rockpore is also developing a circular, microplastic-free turf alternative. CLWAC is non-toxic, reusable, and regulation-ready—offering enhanced durability, lower maintenance, and zero microplastic pollution for future-proof urban sports infrastructure.
