Rockpore

Our Mission & Vision

At Rockpore, we believe in the power of circular innovation to transform industries.

Our commitment lies in creating high-value materials from industrial waste streams, ensuring that each product contributes to resource efficiency and a lower carbon footprint.

The world is shifting towards more sustainable solutions, and our MISSION is to be at the forefront of that movement by developing circular aggregates for applications in hydroponics, artificial turf, and marine structural concrete.

Our VISION is to redefine how industries use raw materials by making waste a resource. By leveraging reverse logistics, smart material processing, and COâ‚‚ sequestration capabilities, we offer solutions that are both technically superior and environmentally responsible.

Our production will be centred in the Nordic and European markets, where sustainability regulations and high-performance material demands are rapidly increasing.

Our Story

Rockpore AS was founded in 2020 with the ambition to create fully circular materials for high-performance applications. From the beginning, we have collaborated with industry leaders and research institutions to ensure that our products meet and exceed industry expectations.

Today, we are actively participating in multiple European research initiatives to validate and scale our solutions across the Nordic and European markets. Our planned production facility in Reykjavik will play a key role in ensuring a scalable, sustainable supply of our Circular Lightweight Aggregate for Carbonation (CLWAC).

Rockpore AS is the core innovation and development hub, driving technology advancement and market validation. Rockpore ehf in Iceland, is responsible for scaling and producing our CLWAC materials, ensuring their seamless integration into industry applications. Together, we provide a fully circular solution that can replace traditional materials in multiple industries while aligning with European regulatory standards.

Our TEAM Driving Circular Innovation

Finn Erik Solvang, Founder and Head of Research at Rockpore AS, has over 20 years of experience in cleantech innovation and circular materials development. He has pioneered sustainable infill materials, circular aggregates, and upcycling solutions, including energy-efficient under-pitch heating systems and recycled glass applications. A specialist in material science, business model innovation, and circular economy strategies, he led the development of CLWAC, a low-carbon aggregate for construction, hydroponics, and artificial turf. As the inventor of the Business Model Readiness Indicator (BMRI) framework, he ensures that Rockpore’s solutions are scientifically advanced and commercially viable.

Dr. Moez Jomâa, CTO of Rockpore AS, holds a Ph.D. in Computational Mechanics from Sorbonne University and has over 15 years at SINTEF specializing in material science, industrial process optimization, and digital twin technologies. He has managed large-scale EU-funded projects in renewable energy, smart materials, and advanced manufacturing. At Rockpore, he oversees technical development and scaling of CLWAC production, ensuring compliance with high-performance and sustainability standards.

Dr. Kristján Friðrik Alexandersson, co-founder of Rockpore ehf, holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Oxford and has nearly a decade of experience in concrete technology, raw material agglomeration, and waste valorization. His expertise in cement-free binders, cementitious materials, and resource recovery supports Rockpore’s development of circular, low-carbon materials. He plays a key role in advancing CLWAC for marine concrete, hydroponics, and artificial turf, ensuring scientific, regulatory, and sustainability standards are met.

Sunna Ólafsdóttir Wallevik, CEO and co-founder of Rockpore ehf, leads production scale-up and market expansion in Iceland. With a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, an M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry, and an MBA, she combines technical expertise with strategic leadership. She has managed high-impact projects on cement-free binders and raw material agglomeration, advancing sustainable recycling in energy-intensive industries. Sunna has been instrumental in commercializing circular materials and establishing Nordic partnerships, positioning Rockpore ehf at the forefront of sustainable construction and industrial innovation.
